As secret headquarters go, Romana had to admit that this was a good one. She p
particularly liked the flying lizard.

The lift provided a convenient setup to taking a good look around as she and Toshiko descended into Torchwood central, presuming that was what it was and not a secret incarceration facility cleverly concealed by vigilant humans to trap time traveling aliens who didn't know better. Romana never dismissed that option outright. The lighting was a bit intimidating, the blue glare element overdone, but the equipment looked quite promising, and not, for the most part, 21st century Earth standard. And it smelled clean, which was a big turn up from many secret incarceration facilities.

She hopped out of the limb and, curbing her Doctorlike tendencies with a measure of effort, stood still with her hands folded behind her back, waiting for Toshiko to guide her onwards. She racked her brain for a comment like stupendous, unearthly, I can't believe my eyes, but all she managed to come up with was, "cozy."

She smiled at the human woman, a smile meant to set at ease. "What do you feed your pterodactyl?"

Owen brought his head up from his computer screen when he heard a females voice, smiling slightly when he noticed her attractiveness.

"Well, they tend to let it eat anything that belongs to me," he shouted over, glaring teasingly at Tosh.

"Yes, that's true," said Toshiko with a smile. "This is Dr Harper. Owen, this is....well, a non-human who was trying to break into our headquarters. Or disable the lift. Either way, she seems quite nice. She's a Time Lord."

She emphasised the words, knowing - well, hoping - he would pick up on it and its connection to Jack disappearance and problems.

Owen frowned at Tosh, trying to figure out why she'd bring a Time Lord into the hub.

"Ah right. Nice to meet you," he said, putting on a smile.

"She isn't dangerous, Owen," she found herself saying. She believed that, but she had no proof of it. She wasn't in the habit of doing anything at all without proper proof. What was wrong with her?

Owen nodded.

"Good. 'Course she's not! Pretty girls hardly ever are," Owen said, smiling at the woman. "So does 'she' have a name?"

((OOOC: Yikes! Sorry! They're taking my floor apart, you don't want to know...))

Under another set of circumstances, Romana might have found the interaction between the two humans rather satisfying, even if one of them was leering at her in a way that suggested that when he said pretty, he didn't exactly mean it as K-9 did. Well, she was a very beautiful woman, probably, and the Doctor had taught her to talk to people on the level they wanted to hear.

"Romana," she introduced herself to Owen Harper, although without an offered handshake. "I understand you have some trouble with Time Lords."

Owen faced Tosh, unsure of what to tell her.

"Well, you could say that," he said quickly, turning to face his computer again.

"Just tell her," said Toshiko, with a curt sort of nod. It wasn't fair to get exasperated with Owen over this, but she couldn't help herself. It was almost automatic, these days. "She knows more than we could ever hope to already."

Owen sighed.

"We keep getting signals saying they're everywhere. And one of them has Jack. That's all I know. That lot refused to take me with them the first time we saw the signal," he said to Romana, pointing at Tosh when he was talking about 'that lot.'
